Digitization of glasses in 3D

There's a whole process behind the modeling of a 3D frame. Here are the essential steps:

1. Order: you make your order on a dedicated platform and send the frames by mail to one of Fittingbox StudioBox. After receiving the physical frames you've sent us, our team checks them carefully and get them ready for shooting.

2. Shooting: Fittingbox’s patented StudioBox shoots the glasses from various angles to catch all the details that make a pair of glasses unique. In doing so, we make sure to have enough material to create a 3D frame that looks as close to reality as possible.

3. 3D modeling: our process covers the renderings of both the frames and lenses. The 3D modeling step is either automatic or requires the intervention of our 3D designers for a premium level of renderings.

4. Quality check: after checking and validating the asset, our team of experts makes the appropriate adjustments.

5. Addition of the 3D frame to Fittingbox’s database and virtual try-on availability: once validated, the 3D Frame is automatically available for Virtual Try-On through Fittingbox Database. We also send our customers all the photos they need to upload onto their website. And, of course, we send the physical frames back as soon as the process has ended.

Our technology is especially designed to produce a digital copy of a frame that is as close to reality as possible. With more than 50% of Fittingbox employees in R&D and various patents, we continuously provide cutting-edge technology. For example, we've just released a major improvements of the 3D rendering of both eyeglasses and sunglasses with a focus on crystal frames as well as the rendering of different materials on a same frame and translucent acetate renderings.

We also provide a premium enhanced quality of rendering, as we have a dedicated team of designers that can work on highlighting a special frame.

During the digitization process, we pay extra attention to the lenses and all the possible effects they can have, then we include them in the 3D twin of the frame. Our latest major improvement features an improved rendering of lenses, especially on gradient effects, coatings, iridescence and mirror effects.

Also, we've created a special feature of our  virtual try-on solution: Lens Simulator. Thanks to Lens Simulator, users can view a pair of glasses with photochromic lenses. They can also switch from optical lenses to solar lenses on the same frame easily.

It usually requires 3 weeks after reception of the frames to create their digital twins. We provide a scalable production of 4.000 frames per month in average.

The optical market trends evolve over time, and we make a point of following them continuously to offer you the best service. That's why we provide free digitized eyewear from the most popular brands. The price of the remaining brands is based on a popularity ranking we've based on the the most virtually tried on frames.

So, the price of digitization for these frames can vary from €22 to €250 per frame depending on the popularity and on the level of quality you wish to have.

The 3D frames we created can be used in many different ways! Obviously, you can use it with Fittingbox's virtual try-on solution, but you can use it with other rendering engines.
You can choose to showcase your collections by creating eyewear filters for social media, and good news: we can make our 3D frame compatible to use in a filter!
